A lot of Mac users have constantly asked for a new MacBook Pro. And the new MacBook Pro 15″ is indeed a great unit that does provide a lot of processing power and value. But then again, it all comes with a price. A very high price.
The base price for the unit is around $2500 or so, and it doesn’t even come with an I9 processor. If you want the I9 processor, you will have to pay $300 extra. For that, you will get a 2.9 GHz I9 processor that goes up to 4.8 GHz. This is a very fast processor, and the best thing about it is that it can indeed offer you faster rendering and other good features similar to that.
Memory-wise you can go up to 32 GB, although adding the extra 16 GB will cost you quite a lot of money, $400 extra. As we know Apple allows you to create the MacBook you want, but everything you add up leads to a pretty high price point.
The storage options are ok for most people. 256 GB is the standard for the SSD, but you can go wild and choose up to 4 TB of storage in SSD format. That will rack you up $3000 alone, which makes it one of the most expensive hardware add-ons that you ever got to purchase. Thankfully you can go with incremental updates like 512 GB or 1 TB, but these are still rather expensive in their own right.
Aside from that, you have a Radeon Pro 560 X which is a pretty good graphics card. But at this price point, it’s far from worth it and certainly not the best that you can find on the market. Sure, there may be some space restrictions inside the unit, but considering the huge asking price, you are obviously expecting a bit more from them.
However, the MacBook Pro 15″ works extremely well, and it also has a pretty good way of avoiding overheating too. They did a very good job with the touchpad which is fast and responsive. And the addition of 4 Thunderbolt ports make it a very good professional unit that you can use. The keyboard is backlit, which offers a touch especially if you’re the type of person that works during the night.
Is the MacBook Pro 15″ worth it especially when you put $4000 or more into it? That depends on what you plan on doing with it. Considering the price, this is only worth it if you make a lot of money from it. Otherwise, it’s just a very shiny and super expensive accessory. But if you are a business professional or a freelancer that depends on such a unit to make a living from it, then it’s well worth investing in one. However, some features like extra storage and memory are way overpriced for what you get. That means you need to figure out what you want from the unit before you place your order!
